American Legion National Oratorical

Subject: American Legion National Oratorical

Good morning –  I have sent this email before, but we do have some new volunteers.

Once again, thank you SO MUCH for volunteering.  We can't do this without you!

Wanted to go over a few things, because we feel there is some confusion.

  1. Banquet tickets – if you do not let us know that you want a banquet ticket, there will not be one held for you.  We will not automatically have a ticket for you.  Also, there is limited seating, so the sooner the better.
  2. Dorm rooms – We are assuming that you will be housed in a dorm room.  If you have made other arrangements, please let us know.
  3. Shuttles – If you will require a ride from the Detroit airport, please let us know, and send us your flight itinerary.  We suggest you book your flights on Friday to land before 4 p.m.  If you don't let us know you need a ride, the shuttle drivers will not be expected to pick you up.
  4. If at all possible, please arrive during the day on Friday.  We will check you in during registration and get you your room key.  There will be an orientation at 6:30 p.m., followed by a walk through.  We think it will be very helpful if you can attend.
  5. WE STILL NEED VOLUNTEERS.  We still need around 15-20 more volunteers – specifically Judges.  Please encourage people in your department to consider volunteering.
  6. If you have not yet completed the risk management requirements, please do that right away.

Please let me know if you have any questions.  I hope you have a great day!

American Legion 1st District Meeting - Wednesday April 16, 2025

Greetings everyone!  The purpose of this message today is to announce the date and time of our April, 2025, 1st District membership meeting.

This will be a very, very important meeting.  We need to be able to adjourn the meeting being prepared for important issues to be resolved before and during the 2025 Department Summer Convention in July.  Having a quorum enabling us to conduct our Legion business cannot be overstated.

Our April, 2025 District Meeting will be held at Knights of Columbus, (Post #390 Headquarters) 19801 Farmington Road, Livonia, Michigan 48152 Wednesday, 16 April, 2025 at 6:30 P.M.

As always, if for some important reason you may not be able to attend, you or your designated members/representatives may attend the meeting on ZOOM!  Our 1st Zone Commander/1st District JAG Gary DeMars (248-982-1606 or gary.demars1@gmail.com) is the keeper of our ZOOM account and can provide the access code and/or information needed to access the meeting on your computer or cell phone.  Please allow advance time (15-20 minutes) to open his email and connect with the meeting.

Having a sufficient number of members attending, representing each of our 1st District Posts is critical this month.  That agenda is attached to this announcement.

Please see the attachment and begin planning on attending our meeting, representing Legion Posts within our District.  Information needed?  Give me call!  (734-891-3898)
